Kermit Dean Inman, age 91, passed away on September 1 at Stonecroft Health Campus in Bloomington, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease/Dementia. He was born on June 22, 1928 in Shoals, IN to Cletus and Beatrice (Crane) Inman. He attended Solsberry High School. He worked at RCA for 3 days when he received his draft papers. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1954-56, spending a year and a half in Germany. He was in the “Hell on Wheels” Division of the Motor Pool. Other jobs included RCA, Fields and Inman Sunoco Service Station, Pal Deckard Ford Dealership in Bedford, IN, where he was the service manager. Then he was the owner/operator of Inman’s Sunoco Station on South Walnut Street in Bloomington, until his retirement in 1991. He also farmed part time. On September 16, 1949 he married his high school sweetheart, Mary E. (Thacker) Inman. She preceded him in death on February 7, 1999. His greatest joy was spending time with his granddaughter. He loved watching her dance and succeed in life. She was his world. He also loved to hunt, fish, farm, play bingo and euchre and being with his family and friends. He liked to tease people. People say he was very honest and trusting businessman and that he had beautiful blue eyes. Survivors include his daughter, Debby McKibben and her husband, Larry, of Bloomington and his granddaughter, Anissa McKibben Clarke, and her husband, Billy, of Farmers Branch, TX. He is also survived by a sister, Wilma L Sparks of Solsberry, IN, two sisters-in-law, Doris Inman of Linton, IN and Susie Rainey and her husband Fred of Bloomington, IN and a brother-in-law, Bill Thacker of Solsberry, IN/ And several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Cleta M. Carmichael and Betty L. Price and two brothers, Doyle E. Inman and Loren D. Inman and three nieces, Patty Ann Inman, Nancy Fender and Susie Schulte. The family would like to thank Stonecroft Health Campus and Premier Hospice for their care, love and friendships. Services will be 11AM on Friday, September 13 at The Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Les Rovenstine officiating. Burial will be at Carmichael Cemetery in Greene County. Friends may call from 4-8 on Thursday, September 12 at The Funeral Chapel and on Friday from 10 AM until service time. Memorial contributions may be made to the Free Methodist Church-Bloomington.
