Richard F. "Dick" Crowe Obituary

Richard F.”Dick” Crowe, 89, of Bloomington, passed away on Thursday April 7, 2016 at his residence with his family by his side. Dick was born Novembeer 2, 1926 in Bedford, Indiana and was the son of the late Ferrell Carter and Margaret Anita (Torphy) Crowe. Dick graduated from Bloomington High School in 1945. After high school he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served as a Staff Sergeant in World War II. Dick worked as an Electrician and was the first Electrician at Otis Elevator, he was a Union Electrician with GM in Bedford and retired from Westinghouse after 23 years. He had also served as Fire Chief in Ellettsville. He attended St. John The Apostle Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Rebecca “Becky” Crowe, 3 children; Nancy Beckett of Bloomington, Mike Crowe (Gail) of McDonough, Georgia, and Joseph Crowe (Vicky) of Bloomington, one grandson, David Crowe of Avon, Indiana, two great grandchildren Taylor and Devin Crowe, 3 step children; Brian Love (Darla) of Savannah, Georgia, Brent Love of Mitchell, Indiana, and Michelle McGarvey (Rick) of Bloomington. Also surviving are 8 step great grandchildren; Kristy Begley, Cory Love, Jessica Love, Rachel Love, Mitchell Love, Michael Love, Brice McGarvey, and Anne Marie McGarvey, and two step great grandchildren, Blake and Audrey Begley. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Robert Crowe and sister, Mary Stauch. Services will be 1:00 pm Monday April 11, 2016 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St. Bloomington. Burial will follow the service at Valhalla Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm until the time of service on Monday.
