Floyd D. Balliet 72, formerly of Decatur, went to be with Our Lord & Savior on Friday April 28, 2006 at St. Mary's Hospital in Tucson, AZ.
He was born to Orville E. and Anna Mae (Fox)Balliet on May 2, 1933 in Scott, Ohio. He married Patricia (Kable) May 6, 1954 of which he was married to for 45 years, shes deceased. He then married Corda A.R. (Lewis) she survives living in Surprise, AZ.
Also surviving is 1 son Jim (Lisa) Balliet Decatur; 5 daughters Vickie Balliet Decatur, Mrs. Richard (Nancy) Nern Jr. Decatur, Mrs. Troy (Laurie) Balliet-Tice Decatur, Linda Balliet - Decatur, Mrs. Robert (Janet) Davison Monroeville; 2 sons Mike (Lisa) Hanson - AZ, Ray (Louise) Hanson AZ, 2 daughters Mrs. John (Kelly) Arnold AZ, Mrs. Jim (Lisa) Egner - AZ; 1 brother Francis (Arlene) Balliet Phoenix, AZ; 3 sisters Mrs. Gordon (Edna) Rappolle Phoenix, AZ, Mrs. Lloyd/Bud (Frieda) Wiseman Van Wert, OH, Mrs. Phyllis Palermo Ft. Wayne, IN; 25 grandchildren 7 great-grandchildren & many nieces & nephews. Preceded Floyd in death are his parents, 1st wife Patricia (Kable) Balliet, son Stephen M. Balliet, and 12 brothers & sisters.
Floyd was a decorated Army Veteran of the Korean War, 45th Infantry Div. and 45th QM Co., he was a former Decatur Police Officer, an active member of Fraternal Order of Police,V.F.W., American Legion and a former member of the Moose and Cannonball CB Club. He was also a retired teamster for Consolidated Freightways. Floyd was a former owner of Copper Kettle & Balliets Restaurant and was also a Truck Driver.
Calling hours are from 2:30-5:00 Sunday, May 7, 2006 at Haggard & Sefton Funeral Home. A 9:20am prayer service will be held on Monday, May 8, 2006 at Haggard & Sefton Funeral Home followed by a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. Father David Voors will be officiating and burial is in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Memorials are to the Korean War Vets or donors choice.
