Ava Hughes, 86, passed away July 30, 2012, with family at her side. Ava was born in Tipton, Indiana on March 27, 1926, to Ferdnand and Ella Walz. Ava and her husband, Robert, moved from Lafayette to Hoosier Village Retirement Center in 2005. Ava was devoted to her family. She loved all animals, especially dogs, and enjoyed hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ella Wilson, brother Walter Walz, and sisters Naomi Pore, Edell Cox, and Julia Murphy. Ava is survived by her husband, Robert; daughters, Linda Hughes and Barbara (Richard) Bender; son, Robert (Debra) Hughes; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Chapel at Hoosier Village Retirement Center from 10:00 - 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 3. (Enter Hoosier Village Retirement Center at 5300 West 96th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana.) There will be a short service at 10:30 a.m., followed by internment in Sharpsville, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hoosier Village Retirement Center Employee Fund or First Christian Church in Lafayette, Indiana.
