Obituary for Betty Jean Fike

Betty J. Fike, 85, died Monday, March 19, 2012, at Miller's Assisted Living facility in Mooresville. She was a former resident of Bargersville. Betty was born Dec. 19, 1926 in Indianapolis to Albert (Ed) and Annabelle Edwards. She married Clarence E. Fike on June 29, 1946. He survives. Other survivors include a sister, Joann Martin of Lebanon; two daughters, Linda Cripe (Dennis) of Franklin and Pam Clark (William) of Plainfield; three grandchildren, Ryan Cripe (Erin) of Greenwood, Mark Lambirth (Jennifer) of Indianapolis, and Aaron Cripe (Lacy) of Fort Wayne, and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Edwards, and a son, Gary Fike.

Betty graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1944. She was a member of First Christian Church in Morgantown and was a member of the Red Hats Society of Morgantown. She retired from Sani-Serv in 1988. Betty received many awards for her oil paintings through her involvement with the Brown County Art Gallery Association. In addition to her art, Betty loved flying and held commercial, aerobatic and instructor's licenses. Other interests include gardening, cooking, and reading.

The Rev. Burt Brock will conduct a celebration of life service Thursday at First Christian Church, 2717 S. Morgantown Rd., in Morgantown. Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. The funeral will follow. A private service for family will be Friday at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Johnson County Humane Society.
