Carl Vernon Snider
89, reposed on March 11, 2010. He was born May 31, 1920 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Charles and Addie Snider. He was a graduate of Manual High School and served his nation honorably in the United States Army during World War II including the Normandy invasion. Following his return from the military, he worked his way up to foreman at RCA in the compound division making LP records. He retired in 1979 to spend time with his loving and ever growing extended family. He was the widower of his beloved Mary Joseph Snider, to whom he was married for 57 years and is now reunited. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Edwin, Blanch, Pauline and Louise. His one sister-in-law, Hazel, is still living.
Carl is survived by 4 children: John Snider (Liz) of Phoenix, AZ, Carl Snider, Jr. (Ruby) of Kansas City, MO, Diana Najjar of Westfield, IN and Janine Shurts (Jimmy) of St. Louis, MO. His one daughter-in-law, Anna, preceded him in death. He is survived by 11 grandchildren: Melissa Angelone (John), Michael Snider, Michelle Yeager (Frank), Teresa Snider, David Najjar (Karen), Christa Meinke (Neal), Mark Najjar (Sarah), Marcella Koroneos (Tom), Matthew Snider (Tina), Maria Morales and Ana Shurts; 16 great-grandchildren: John and Francesca Angelone, Laura, John and Sarah Yeager, Katherine, Nicholas, Nathaniel, Elias and Mary Najjar, Mason and Ellie Meinke, Sophia, Roma and Anastasia Koroneos, and Tyler Snider; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to gather to celebrate his life at Harry W. Moore Funeral Home, Castleton Chapel, 82nd and Allisonville Road, on Sunday, March 14, 2010 from 4 to 8PM. A Trisagion service will be held at 7:30PM that evening. A funeral service will take place on Monday, March 15, 2010 at 11AM at St. George Orthodox Church, 4020 N. Sherman Drive, where Carl was a member since 1941. A vigil will precede the funeral service at 10AM. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. George Orthodox Church.
