Obituary for Charles Jackson Lynn II

Charles Jackson Lynn II, entered life eternal on August 9, 2008 in Indianapaolis. He was born in Indianapolis on August 29, 1946 to his parents of Jane S. and John S. Lynn.
He was the great nephew and namesake of Charles J. Lynn, Indiana philanthropist and former vice president of Eli Lilly and Company , who served directly under the leadership of Mr. Eli Lilly. Charlie's father, John S. Lynn, served as general manager of the Lilly Endowment.
Charlie was a graduate of Indiana University and a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He was the former proprietor of Roly's, the leading men and women's specialty clothing store in the state of Indiana in the 1970's and 80's, with locations in Bloomington, Castleton, Glendale and the Fashion Mall. Following his twenty-year stint in retail business, he worked as an independent sales representative.
An avid and skilled golfer, Charlie played at some of the most notable courses in the United States. He was an inaugural member of Crooked Stick Golf Course but enjoyed playing at challenging courses throughout central Indiana.
He is survived by his parents, John and Jane Lynn. He was a selfless and devoted family man and leaves the love of his life, Cheri, to whom he was married thirty-three years and adored children, Abigail and Charles III. He is also survived by his older brother, John (Elizabeth) and precious sister, Judi Klug; in-laws, Robert and Naomi Longardner; two nieces, three nephews, and many loving friends.
Charlie's faith in God sustained and guided him as he exemplified the love of God through all of his days. He was a sixth-generation member of Second Presbyterian Church where services will be held on Wednesday, August 13 at 11:00 a.m. A brief gathering will be held for friends in the church parlor immediately following the service to celebrate Charlie's life. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to the Indianapolis Civic Theatre or Second Presbyterian Church.
