Franklin (Frank) Dee Cummings
72, Born in Indianapolis on March 12, 1933 to Opal and Adrian (Jim) Cummings. Attended IPS school No.21 and graduated from Arsenal Technical High School. Frank served in both the US Navy and the US Army. A printer by trade, he retired from Indianapolis Newspapers, Inc. in 1996 after 33 years of service.
Preceded in death by his son Franklin D. Cummings Jr., siblings Max and Don Hardesty and Ruth Zadoorian. Survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Bennett Cummings, children, Don and Jeff (Sandy) Cummings, Lori ( Mike) Cain, Julie (Greg) Norris, Susan (Rob)Munds, thirteen grandchildren and sister Betty Whitesell.
A life-long supporter of the importance of higher education, Frank, an honorary Boilermaker, was most proud of seeing that all his children attended college even though he was unable to. His legacy continues as his three oldest grandchildren have already enrolled in, or finished college.
He was a member of Woodside Methodist Church and attended Seventh & Eighth United Christian Church.
He was a long time member of American Legion Post 497, Am Vets Post 99 and Indianapolis Old-Time Printers' Association.
A devoted family man who exemplified responsibility, hard work, love of family and strength -his life with us will be missed, but his influence will remain.
Arrangements handled by Harry Moore Family Mortuaries, 8151 Allisonville Road. Calling from 4-8 pm Thursday, December 29th and funeral service at 11 am Friday, December 30th. Burial to follow at Lincoln Memory Gardens, 6851 S. Indianapolis Road (Hwy 52), Whitestown, Indiana.
