John George Gromosiak, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away Thursday, December 15, 2011. He was born in Niagara falls, New York, on May 11, 1933, The son of the late John and Anne (Rimanosky) Gromosiak. He was also predeceased by his brother John Gromosiak.
John is survived by his dear wife Sharon (Williamson) Gromosiak; a son, Gregory G. Gromosiak of Miamisburg, Ohio; two brothers, Michael R. Gromosiak of Bellbrook, Ohio and Paul Gromosiak of Niagara Falls, New York; a nephew, Micheal A. Gromosiak of North Canton, Ohio; two great nephews, Tucker J. and Kellen M. Gromosiak, also of North canton, Ohio.
Mr. Gromosiak served with the Air Force during the Korean War. He later worked as a civilian for the Air Force at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio, where he was an illustrator.
Then he spent many years organizing arts and crafts shows in malls all over the eastern United States. At the same time, he made thousands of paintings of people, places and things. Many of his paintings are on the walls of businesses and homes all over the country, including Niagara Falls, New York and Indianapolis, Indiana.
John tried very hard and with all his heart to create proper museum dedicated to the memory of the warship and crew of the USS Indianapolis. Unfortunately, he didn't live to see his dream come true.
As a tribute to many people in his life, John wrote a book, Touched by So Many.
