It has been a couple of days since Pat's life celebration (I just can't call it a funera ). I am struggling with how to deal with this great loss. I have seen Pat on a regular basis since college but I have been able to stay in touch with him as guys do... I chance meeting here, a card there with the ever present IU football/Butler basketball schedules enclosed, etc. He was always there, however, in my heart and memories. And now, wow, where do you go with your feelings when suddenly this great human being is not there. I offer my deepest condolences to Adrienne and to Pat's entire family. I am proud to say that Pat was a friend of mine and I can only hope that he thought the same of me. God will judge Pat kindly and, as Steve said in his excellent homily, has prepared a place for Pat... a special place.

Dear Adrienne, Pat's parents and all of Pat's family, I was so sorry to hear this sad news of my favorite red headed mayor. I first met Pat some thirty odd years ago as a freshman at I.U. I was from NY, young, first time away from home and more than a little intimidated by my new Mid Western surroundings. Pat and the whole gang at Briscoe made me feel at home in no time at all. I was fortunate enough to see Pat again three years ago at a Briscoe reunion, where I again experienced the same caring and acceptance from Pat, and saw that he had obviously continued to grow into a lovely, fun, caring and generous man. He made sure every detail was just right so all could come together, have the best time possible, and leave with happy memories of life at I.U., good friendships formed a long time ago, and the beauty of being able to pick up where we had left off, as only good friends can do. My heart goes out to you and your family, I know he will be sorely missed by many. You are in my thoughts and prayers as you pass through this difficult time.

I feel blessed having had the opportunity to get to know Pat as a high school classmate and also as an adult. Pat was an amazing individual with so many wonderful characteristics. He was a very caring, generous, intelligent person who always had a positive outlook on life. He always looked for the good in people. Whenever I would run into Pat, he always had the Pat grin and nice hug to go along with it. It is difficult writing this note without tearing up. Pat is truly one of a kind. What a loss this is to all of us. Adrienne and family, my thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time and the years ahead.
Linda and my thoughts and prayers are with you and the family.
I always enjoyed being around Pat. I first met Pat when we were freshmen at IU 36 years ago. Definetly going to miss him at the IU Football games.
