Obituary for Peter Joseph Hammes

Peter Joseph Hammes
62, of Indianapolis, passed away February 26, 2005 at his home. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Joetta (Fry) Hammes. He is survived by his sons Michael (Nicole) Hammes of Kettering, Ohio, and David Hammes of Cincinnati, Ohio; a granddaughter Teagan Rosemary Hammes; brothers Charles, Fred, & Hank Hammes; and sisters Martha Shaffer, Clara Kovacs, and Sister Carlita Hammes, CSC.

Mr. Hammes was born September 2, 1942 in Plymouth, IN to Charles and Clara Hammes. He was a graduate of Plymouth High School & Valparaiso Technical Institute. A veteran of the US Army, he served his country with distinction from 1966-1972. He retired from RCA in 2003 after 37 years of service. Peter was active in Boy Scouting, for many years he served as an adult leader for Troop 443. He also helped in the creation of Troop 514 at St. Monica's Parish.

The family will be accepting visitors from 5-8 pm Wednesday, March 2nd at Harry Moore Family Mortuary, Allisonville Road Chapel. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, 4100 E 56th. Street at 11:00 AM Thursday, March 3rd with burial immediately to follow at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery.
