Philip B. Lambert, 71, of Indianapolis, died February 11, 2011. He was born March 1, 1939 in Covington, Kentucky to the late George and Mary Lambert. He was a graduate of Dale High School and Indiana State University. He received a Master’s Degree from the University of Cincinnati and a Doctorate Degree from Andrews University, both in Educational Administration. Phil was a veteran and served his country as a member of the Air Force Honor Guard in Washington, D.C. He began his professional career as an English teacher and football coach at Harrison High School in Harrison, OH. Phil became the principal of Springboro High School in Springboro, OH in 1968 and also served as the principal of Southmont High School in New Market, IN and Penn High School in Mishawaka, IN. In 1979, he became an Assistant Superintendent in the Tippecanoe School Corporation in Lafayette, IN and retired as the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction in MSD of Lawrence Township in 2000.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; son, Todd (Tricia), Fort Collins, CO; grandchildren, Aaron and Audrey; brothers Robert (Kathy), LaGrange, IN, Thomas (Sue), Huntingburg, IN, James Kern (Marilyn), Haubstadt, IN, Timothy Kern (Sue), Dale, IN; and several wonderful nieces and nephews.
Phil enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and supporting the Green Bay Packers and Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 7200 Sarto Dr., Indianapolis. Friends and family may call from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 18, 2011 at Harry W. Moore Funeral Care and Crematory, 8151 Allisonville Rd., Indianapolis.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Stroke Association.
