Richard Leo Henning, 78, died at Northwest Manor after a brief illness. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, and grew up in North Judson, Indiana before making his home in Indianapolis.

He retired from LaRue Carter Memorial Hospital where he was a psychiatric social worker for 35 years. He enriched the lives of those he treated as well as his coworkers. His incredible sense of humor and easy manner made him a joy to be around, and he developed many life-long friendships. He was an avid reader who never quit learning. Richard also enjoyed creating ceramic animals, playing with his cats, and socializing with his circle of friends. He will be greatly missed by those whose lives he touched.
Richard is survived by his life partner, Christopher Gerard Hubbard and many friends.
There will be a Celebration of Life ceremony at the Harry Moore Funeral Home at 8151 Allisonville Road on December 27 at 12:00 p.m, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
In accordance with Richards wishes, he will be cremated and returned to North Judson for burial in the family plot. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Indianapolis Humane Society.
