Robert Dale Berg

Robert (Bob) Dale Berg of Carmel, Indiana and formerly of Danville, Illinois, passed away at his home on Monday, July 1, 2013 at the age of 67. He was born on October 30, 1945 to Robert William Berg and Norma Nelson Berg in Danville, IL. They preceded him in death.
Bob graduated from Danville High School in 1963 and shortly after went to work at Esco Corporation. He then went on to work at General Motors in Danville and later relocated with General Motors in Kokomo, Indiana. He retired from GM in 2006 after 35 years of service.
Bob married Brenda Thom on May 15, 1976 and they recently celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary. He is survived by his wife, Brenda, a daughter, Angela (Greg) Lazzell of Danville, a son, Mark Berg of Seattle, Washington, and two grandsons, Jacob (Molly) Lazzell and Jordan Lazzell, both of Danville. Also surviving are his sister Beverly (Ed) Secrest of Houston Texas, his brother, Dan (Charlotte) Berg of Spring, Texas, his brother in law, Greg (Ruth) Thom of Champaign, IL, and many special nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bob was a gentle soul and he loved life and people. While in Danville he was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church and he loved the friends he made there. After moving to Carmel, he and Brenda joined Lifepointe, where they were so blessed to make many wonderful, friends.
Bob loved working in his yard and took great pride in it, especially his roses. He enjoyed playing golf with his grandson and his buddies. For the past four years he and Brenda have vacationed in Mexico during February and formed some lasting relationships with those friends.
Bob was a loving husband, father, brother and friend to all who met him. Though Bob lost his battle to esophageal cancer, he has won an important place in heaven with his Lord and Savior. A celebration of Bob’s life will be held on Friday, July 5, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Covington. Visitation/reception from 4 -7 pm (Indiana time) and a celebration service beginning at 7pm.
