Walter O. White, Jr., 86, went home June 6, 2011.
He was born August 22, 1924, the son of Walter O. and Golda (Ray) White, Sr. Walter served in the United States Army, 3rd Army under General Patton, in Europe during WWII, receiving 3 Bronze Stars. He was retired from the United States Postal Service. He was a lifetime member of Monsignor James M. Downey Council 3660, Knights of Columbus, and the American Legion, Post 355. Walter was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.
Walter was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Mary Helen; and his son, David Benjamin White, Sr.
He is survived by his four children, Joseph White, Mary Fisher, Charles White, and Dolores McFadyen; grandchildren, David, James, Sarah, and Jenna; and two great-grandchildren, Andrew and Sarah.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Friday, June 10, 2011 at noon at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 950 Prospect St. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until service time. Burial with military rites will follow at Washington Park North Cemetery. Harry W. Moore Funeral Care is in charge of arrangements.
