Doris Elizabeth Gilley Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Doris Gilley, known to friends as Deb, announces her sudden passing on August 11, 2017 at the Baptist Health Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. Doris was raised in Madison, Indiana, and wanted to become a nurse from the earliest time she could remember. After high school she began training and first worked as a nurse in 1957. She was married in 1958 and after the births of her son and daughter, she acquired a Baccalaureate in Nursing. She loved working with children, and worked in the pediatric unit for The University of Kentucky hospital. She later worked as a school nurse in Lexington Kentucky, and as the staff nurse for the Buckhorn Children's Center in Kentucky. Doris lived her life loving, caring, and welcoming all, spending her life serving God and her family. She will be sadly missed by her son, Sean; daughter, Maria; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild, two brothers and three sisters. Reverend Jeff Bladen will conduct funeral services on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Lytle Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Main Street Chapel, 423 W. Main Street, Downtown Madison, with interment to follow at Springdale Cemetery. Friends and family may call on Thursday, August 17, 2017 from 12:00 PM until the time of the service at Lytle Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Main Street Chapel. The family requests memorial donations in memory of Doris be made to The Kentucky Children's Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.
