Great Scott! Herbert A. Anderson passed away at age 83. Of Madison, Indiana, Mr. Anderson died Sunday, February 5, 2017 at River Terrace Health Campus in Madison. Born August 12, 1933 in Carrollton, Kentucky, he was the son of Herbert C. and Ineze Estelle (Johnson) Anderson. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1952 and served two of his four years in England, where he studied at Oxford University. In 1949, he began watchmaking and became a certified master watchmaker. He owned and operated The Watchmaker in downtown Madison in the late 1970’s, and retired in 1995 from Reliance Electric as a quality engineer after thirty four years of employment. He joined Faith Lutheran Church in 1973, and had held every office he could over the years. In addition to watchmaking, he enjoyed family history and genealogy, archiving family photos, and watching movies. On April 14, 1966, he was united in marriage to Dinah Kay Ayers. He will be sadly missed by his son, Allen Anderson and his wife, Jodi, of Madison; his mother, Leona Anderson Courtney and her husband, Larry of Carrollton, Kentucky; his sisters: Mary Payton of Carrollton, Kentucky; Devella Nichelson and her husband, Bill of Anderson, Indiana; his brothers: Jim Foster and his wife, Mary of Madison, Steven Foster and his wife, Connie of Carrollton, Rodney Anderson of Carrollton, and Douglas Anderson and his wife, Angie of Singapore; and his grandchildren: Elizabeth Anderson, Jonathon Claypoole, and Chelsea Claypoole. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 2003; one sister, Thelma Taylor; and one brother, Charles Anderson. Pastor Jeff Pflug will conduct funeral services at 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Lytle Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel, 117 Holt Drive, Madison, Indiana, with interment to follow in Springdale Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the Lytle Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, February 7, 2017, and from 10:00 AM until time of service on Wednesday. The family requests memorial contributions be made to King's Daughters' Health Cancer Treatment Center. Contributions may be made at any of the Lytle Funeral Homes & Cremation Service locations.
