Donald R. "Doughboy" Jenkins Obituary

Donald R. "Doughboy" Jenkins, age 57, of Lexington, Indiana, passed away Thursday, October 15, 2015 at his residence in Lexington, Indiana. He was born Thursday, November 7, 1957 in New Albany, Indiana, the son of Alonzo E. Sr.and JoAnn Ballard Jenkins. He was a graduate of New Albany High School.He was a fork lift operator at Arvin Sango where he had worked for fifteen years. He was previously employed with Carman Industry of Jeffersonville, Metro Signs of Louisville, and Fisher Construction of Houston, Texas. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed to bowl. He loved to camp, fish, and boating. He was a huge fan of the Kentucky Wildcats and NASCAR. He was a member of the Silvercreek Conservation Club in Sellersburg, and Redmans Club in New Albany. Survivors include his wife, the forrmer Mary Kay Hooker, whom he married May 19, 1978 in Houston, Texas; one daughter and son in law: Brandy Michelle Jenkins and Brian Huff of Dupont, IN, two sons and daughter in laws, Christopher and Kelly Jenkins of Jeffersonville, IN and Donald Ray and Karen Jenkins of Lexington, IN; his mother, JoAnn Jenkins of Clarksville, IN, four brothers: Edward Jenkins of Jeffersonville, IN, Terry Jenkins of Clarksville, IN, Alonso Jenkins, Jr. of Clarksville, IN, and Robert Jenkins of Memphis, IN, one adopted son, Josh Kennard of Traverse City, MI; and 11 grandchildren: Kayla Consley, Brandon Ritter, Maggie Ritter, Haley Consley, Isiah Huff, Ciara Thompson, Lakaiya Huff, Evan Jenkins, and Ethan, Parker, Chase Kennard. He was preceded in death by his: father, Alonzo E. Jenkins, Sr. The funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Monday, October 19, 2015 at Lytle Funeral Homes, Vail's on Michigan Road, Madison, Indiana with burial to be held at a later date. Friends may call from 4:00 PM till 8:00 PM on Sunday, October 18, 2015 at the Lytle Funeral Homes, Vail's on Michigan Road and from 11:00 AM until time of service on Monday. The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Riley Hospital for Children or V.F.W. Post 1832 in Jeffersonville. Memorials can be made at the funeral home or on our website.
