Jo Ann Yocum

Jo Ann (Callis) Yocum entered into eternal life on Thursday, September 21, 2017. She was born October 20, 1935 to Arthur and Ethel (McManis) Callis in Bedford, Kentucky, and resided most of her life in Madison with her husband of fifty-four years, Paul V. Yocum. Jo Ann attended Trimble County High School in Bedford where she was a cheerleader. She maintained a close friendship with her classmates, attending reunions and shorts trips. She loved traveling throughout the United States with her husband, as well as to Europe and the Holy Land with her sister, Doris. Jo Ann enjoyed twenty years of retirement from Reliance Electric Company. Her favorite pastimes included reading, taking care of her pets and basketball, as she was an avid UK fan. Jo Ann loved spending time with her family, especially her young granddaughters. She was baptized at North Madison Christian Church in Madison, where she was a member and greeter. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Doris Callis Wise; and her step-son, Kevin Yocum. Jo Ann is survived by her husband, Paul V. Yocum; her daughter and son-in-law, Gwen Gosman Childs and Robert L. Childs of Madison; one grandson, Gabriel Graham; two great granddaughters Nixie Graham and August Bass; and two nephews: David Wise and Mark Wise. Private services and interment will be held. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Madison-Jefferson County Animal Shelter. Contributions may be made at any of the Lytle Funeral Homes & Cremation Service locations. Lytle Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel, 117 Holt Drive, Madison, is in charge of the arrangements.
