Kenneth E. McLain

Kenneth Elbert McLain, age 101, of Pontiac, Michigan and Madison, Indiana, passed away on June 5, 2017 at his home in Pontiac. Born January 8, 1916 in Madison, he was the son of William McLain and Sarah (Price) McLain Hess who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his wife Helen and one grandson Matthew Hamberg. He married Helen LaVeque in Newport, Ky on October 4, 1946. They resided in Pontiac, MI and Madison, IN. While living in Madison they resided at 507 West Main St. He was a founding member of the Pontiac Coin Club and the Michigan State Numismatic Society and remained active until his death. He was also an active member of the Pontiac and Birmingham Stamp Clubs. In Madison he was an active member of the Friends of the Library and in the Madison Historical Society. He was issued an Amateur Radio License, call WA8PWP, in 1965 and maintained it until his death. Employed 33 ½ years for GM Truck and Bus. He will be sadly missed by his children, Kay Chase and her husband, Gerald of Maryland, Fay Smith and her husband, Jim of North Branch, MI, Kenneth L. McLain of Pontiac, Don McLain of Clarkston and Charlotte Lewis and her husband, Alan of New Jersey, three grandchildren, Gerald II, Harold, John Chase and 4 great grandchildren, Taylor, Madeleine, Leo and Kai. Graveside services will held at 1:00 PM, Monday, June 12, 2017 at Springdale Cemetery in Madison. Family and friends may call from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon Monday at Lytle Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel, 117 Holt Drive, Madison. Memorial contributions may be made to the Clifty Falls Nature Center. Contributions may be made at any of the Lytle Funeral Homes & Cremation Service locations.
