Nancy A. Caldwell Obituary

Nancy Ann Caldwell, age 75, passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at The Waters of Clifty Falls Nursing Home in Madison, Indiana after a valiant fight with Alzheimer's disease. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God and the love and prayers of family, friends and many supporters carried her through the years as she slowly deteriorated.

Nancy was born on January 31, 1940 in Paducah, Kentucky to John and Latha (Cornwell) Hayes. She was the youngest of eight children and was preceded in death by her parents and all seven of her siblings. Nancy was married fifty-four years to Eugene L. Caldwell. Together they raised two sons, David E. Caldwell and Michael D. Caldwell. She was a graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School and Draughn's Business College and applied her skills for many years in retail sales and her work as Church Secretary.

Nancy was known for her ease in frequent conversation with even total strangers. She possessed a contagious smile and an entertaining sense of humor. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many, who even now, are being changed by her witness of constant nurturing, love and faith. Her signature gift of joy, shown through her constant smiling, laughter and joking around will never be forgotten.

Possessing a true servant's heart Nancy faithfully cared for family and friends through cooking, sewing and crafting. A woman of faith and the heart of her family, Nancy shaped her family and friends spirituality by her tireless Christian example. Her faith in action was demonstrated by her many years as a Sunday School teacher and through various Southern Baptist prayer groups and activities.

With a real zest for life, Nancy loved singing in the church choir, writing, reading, prayer, playing games and cards, chatting with friends and family and traveling. She was well known throughout Western Kentucky and Southern Illinois for her beautiful singing voice. Churches throughout the area often asked her to come and sing.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Eugene of Madison; her sons, David and his wife Rena Caldwell and Michael Caldwell both of Madison; her grandchildren: Katrena of Madison and Megan of Amory, Mississippi.

The Reverend Brad McClure will conduct funeral services at 11;00 AM on Monday November 23, 2015 at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
