Randy Lee Johnson

Randy Lee Johnson, age 66, of Scottsburg, formerly of Madison, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at his residence. He was born on November 21, 1949 in Plainview, Nebraska, the son of Donald Johnson and Hannah (Horstmann) Johnson. Mr. Johnson enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1969, serving during the Vietnam Conflict as a radio man E-5 until 1973. He then served in the Reserves for four years. He was a minister and served as an elder at Freedom Life Ministries in Madison. He enjoyed reading and fishing in his spare time. Survivors include his wife, the former Diana Gail Davis, to whom he was married on October 8, 1971 in Daytona Beach, Florida; four sons: Todd Erie Johnson and his wife, Crystal of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Tyler James Johnson and Elijah Joseph Johnson, both of Madison, and Wesley Davis of Madison; four daughters: Christina Robyn Harris and her husband, Joshua, Ligia Johnson Thornton and her husband, Mikel, Rebekah Joy Johnson, and Kaitlin Suzzanne Johnson, all of Madison; two brothers: Francis William Johnson and his wife, Shirley of Cairo, Nebraska and Robert Eugene Johnson of Loveland, Colorado; one aunt: Leona Briggs of Lincoln, Nebraska; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Johnson and Hannah Johnson Hinton, his step-father Alvin Hinton, and one son, Scott Randall Johnson. Funeral services will be conducted by the Reverend Ricky Spindler at 11:00 AM Friday, January 15, 2016 at Lytle Funeral Homes, Vail Chapel on Michigan Road, with interment to follow in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Friends and family may call at Lytle Funeral Homes, Vail Chapel from 5 to 8 PM Thursday, January 14, 2016 and after 10:00 AM Friday. The Honor Guards from the United States Navy and Jefferson Post #9, American Legion, will conduct military services at the cemetery.
