Michael "Mike" McKee

Michael A. McKee, 54, of Atlantic, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2017, at his home. Michael Armand was born on March 16, 1963, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Ivan Charles and Janet Allien (Miles) McKee. Following school he began working for Blue Amusements on and off for a few years. While working there he received his nickname, Mr. Magoo. He was an over the road truck driver for over 30 years; retiring in 2015, due to his failing health. Mike kept busy doing small side jobs over the last two years. In 1997, he was united in marriage to Stacy Johnson at the United Methodist Church in Dickens, Iowa. Mike enjoyed browsing around at flea markets, and loved watching WWE and WWF wrestling. He looked forward to getting away especially when it was an opportunity to go fishing and camping. He also had a love for music. Mike looked forward to seeing his grandkids and spending time with his family. Mike will be deeply missed by his daughter, Jamie Christensen of Laurens; grandchildren, Zakiah P. Christensen and Zander Michael Joe Christensen; mother, Janet Watson of Atlantic; brothers and sisters, Dean (Theresa) McKee of Sioux City, Randy McKee of Remson, Dennis McKee of Fairmont, MN, Rick McKee of Saux Center, MN, David (Val) McKee of Cedar Rapids, Blanche Wadsley of Spencer, Mary Norton of Atlantic, and Vicki (Lewis) Cusick of Iowa City; sister-in-law, Katy McKee of Ashton; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Ivan McKee; brother, Steven McKee; and brother-in-law, Merlin Norton. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at Roland Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Neal of the Marne United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the service beginning at 12:00 p.m. Roland Funeral Home is caring for Mike's family and his arrangements.
