Charles R. Hantelman

Charles Robert Hantelman, the son of Laurence and Mabel (Hanna) Hantelman, was born February 27, 1941, in Algona, Iowa. He passed away Friday, November 17, 2017, at Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville, Iowa, at the age of 76.

He graduated from Sentral High School.

On September 24, 1960, Charlie was united in marriage to Kathleen Carrigan in Fairmont, Minnesota. Charlie was employed at Linde Farm Implement in Swea City, Iowa, Reed Implement in Ringsted, Iowa and later the couple owned and operated KC's Trustworthy Hardware in Ringsted for 15 years. Then the couple moved to Spirit Lake, Iowa, where they owned and operated KC's Trustworthy Hardware for another 15 years prior to retiring. Charles, Charlie, Chuck, Dad, Grandpa, Great Grandpa enjoyed fishing in his leisure time. He was known to be able to fix almost anything. He also had a quick wit and loved to make people laugh. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.

He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Spirit Lake.

Left to cherish Charlie's memory are his wife, Kathleen of Spirit Lake; his children, Bryon (Pam) Hantelman of Ringsted; Sherri Hantelman of St. Peter, MN; four grandchildren, Amy (Ryan) English of Pleasant Hill; Ryan (Stephanie) Craig of Milford; Cody Hantelman of Cherokee; Travis Hantelman of W. Des Moines; four great-grandchildren, Lainey and Nolan English; Zoey and Blake Craig; sister, Mary Lu Klocko and many nieces and nephews.

He has been preceded in death by an infant daughter; infant brother; parents and brother-in-law.
