Dorothy Irene Vedder was born on April 25, 1930, the daughter of Wilbur and Della (Sigler) Holroyd. She passed away at Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville, Iowa on Monday, October 15, 2018 at the age of 88.
After graduating from Estherville High School, she attended Estherville Junior College where she met her future husband Verlyn Vedder. Dorothy taught school at Mallard for a year and then at Superior for three years.
Verlyn and Dorothy were married June 3, 1951. She then stayed home and took care of the couple's four children and the home. Dorothy enjoyed playing bridge and golfing. Verlyn passed away on May 17, 2016.
Dorothy was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Estherville.
Left to Cherish her memory are her children, George (Nancy) Vedder of Burlington, Iowa, Kathy (Roger) Muller, Jack (Anne) Vedder, and Jason Vedder, all of Estherville and five grandchildren: Raeanna Muller, Kaylyn, Reese, Kristyn and Vanessa Vedder; her brother -in- law Bob Orr; her sister-in-law Irene Holroyd; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sister Erma Athey and her brothers Earl Holroyd and Dale Holroyd.
