Douglas W. Whitesell the son of John and Mary (Mason) Whitesell was born October 6, 1938 in Estherville, Iowa. He died on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at his home near Armstrong, Iowa at the age of 79.<br><br> He received his education and graduated from Armstrong High School. Doug served in the United States Navy.<br><br> On March 29, 1964 he was united in marriage to Myrna Pierce in Armstrong. Following their marriage the couple farmed and raised their family near Armstrong. Doug enjoyed fishing and woodworking. After retiring from farming, the couple spent their summers operating the Front Porch Gifts and Treasures in Dorset, Minnesota for 18 years. Myrna died in 2015.<br><br> He was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong.<br><br> Left to cherish Doug's memory are his children, Lora McCaulley and her husband, Robert of Mankato, Minnesota; Dan Whitesell and his wife, Sam of Swea City; grandchildren, Bill, Mary, Angel, Mike, Alyssa, Garrett, Christian; great-grandchildren, John, Ava, Rebekkah, Alexis, and Hadlee, and brothers and sister-in-law, Ken (Judie) Pierce, Kate Pierce, and Inez (Bruce) Hasara.<br><br> He has been preceded in death by a son-in-law John Davidow; great-grandchild, Analise; his wife and parents.<br>

Douglas W. Whitesell the son of John and Mary (Mason) Whitesell was born October 6, 1938 in Estherville, Iowa. He died on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at his home near Armstrong, Iowa at the age of 79.

He received his education and graduated from Armstrong High School. Doug served in the United States Navy.

On March 29, 1964 he was united in marriage to Myrna Pierce in Armstrong. Following their marriage the couple farmed and raised their family near Armstrong. Doug enjoyed fishing and woodworking. After retiring from farming, the couple spent their summers operating the Front Porch Gifts and Treasures in Dorset, Minnesota for 18 years. Myrna died in 2015.

He was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong.
