Eldon L. Brown Obituary

Eldon LeRoy Brown, was born on the home farm in rural Fenton, Iowa on September 2, 1927 to Fred H. and Ellen (Nelson) Brown. He passed away at Lakes Regional Health Care in Spirit Lake, Iowa on January 24, 2020 at the age of 92 years.

Eldon attended and graduated from Fenton High School. In 1946 he entered in the United States Army and served during World War II, being honorably discharged in 1947. On November 24, 1955 he was united in marriage to Marlene Niemann in Armstrong, Iowa. Eldon farmed in the Fenton Area. Marlene passed away on August 13, 1975. Eldon married Barbara Eggers on March 26, 1977 in Ceylon, Minnesota. The couple made their home on the family farm. Upon retirement in 1989 they enjoyed winters in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, and they moved to the Lakes Area full time.

Eldon was a member of the Spirit Lake United Methodist Church and the Lake Havasu United Methodist Church. He was also an active ELKS member. Eldon enjoyed picking up cans and working on golf carts.

Eldon is survived by his wife Barbara Brown of Okoboji; his children Kathleen (Greg) Hepburn of Fort Dodge, IA, Steve (Shelly) Brown of Algona, IA, David (Becky) Eggers of Minneapolis, MN, Mike Eggers and Kristi Riley of Estherville, Rick (Renee) Eggers of Dolliver, IA, and Christopher (Crystal) Eggers of West Bend, IA; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Eldon is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Marlene Brown, and his sister Marjorie (Al) Hewitt.
