Elmer Simacek the son of Rudy and Lena (Handevidt) Simacek was born March 5, 1922 in Alpha, Minnesota. He died on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at the Lakeside Lutheran Home in Emmetsburg, Iowa at the age of 95.

On February 16, 1944 he was united in marriage to Lucille Conlin in Sherburn. Following their marriage the couple made their home in the Sherburn and Estherville areas and Elmer and Lucille farmed together. Elmer always had a joke to tell and a smile that would melt your heart. Lucille died in 2009.

He was a member of Dolliver Lutheran Church and most recently Trinity Lutheran Church in Estherville.

Left to cherish Elmer's memory are one daughter, Lynda Hatland; grandchildren, Denda (Dean) Evans, Deb (Steve) Bueltel, Daren Wilson, Lyle (Jacquelyn) Pauling Jr.; eight great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and brothers, Dale and Vernon Handevidt.

He has been preceded in death by his wife, Lucille; son, Kenny Simacek; parents and several siblings.
