Leona May Moorberg Obituary

Leona May (Whitaker) Moorberg, the daughter of Everett and Mayble (Springer) Whitaker, was born May 13, 1929, Elm Creek, Nebraska. She died Thursday, April 6, 2017, at Good Samaritan Society in Estherville, Iowa, at the age of 87.

She graduated from Lincoln, Nebraska High School in 1947.

On January 11, 1948, she was united in marriage to Joseph Melvin Moorberg in Milford, Nebraska. The couple eventually made their home in the Terril, Iowa, area where they began raising their family. Along with being a mom, homemaker and farm wife, Leona was a Kent Feed Dealer at home. She later was employed at the State Bank in Terril for five years and also Bank of America and the credit union in Estherville for several years. Later she was employed at Servpro in Estherville doing clerical work. Leona took pride in the fact that she was able to continue working well into her seventies. In her leisure time Leona enjoyed sewing, handiwork and ceramics. Joseph died July 28, 1974.

She was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Estherville, involved in church circle and the rug unit. She also had been a member of the Loyal Neighbor's Club in Terril.

Left to cherish Leona's memory are her children, Nancy Rangeloff and her husband, Lester of Nome, North Dakota; Brian Moorberg of Estherville; grandchildren, Calvin (Sarah) Rangeloff and their daughter, Calleigh Jo, Matthew (Amber) Moorberg and their children, Oliver and Leena; Colby (Stacy) Moorberg, Joe (Katie) Moorberg; and brother, Dale Whitaker and his wife, Fran.

She has been preceded in death by her husband; parents and sister, Eleanor Campbell.
