Mary Ann (Anderson) Olson, the daughter of William and Edith (Hooper) Anderson was born May 2, 1932, in Gruver, Iowa. Mary Ann departed this life on Sunday, July 2, 2017, at Valley Vue Care Center in Armstrong, Iowa, at the age of 85.

She received her education in the Ringsted Schools.

On December 28, 1951, she was united in marriage to Alvin Olson in Ringsted. The couple lived in Biloxi, Mississippi, while Alvin was stationed in the Air Force. The couple started farming in 1954, in the Rodman, Emmetsburg and Ringsted area. Mary Ann was a homemaker raising her children and helping out on the farm. She enjoyed dancing, traveling and especially spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mary Ann was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Ringsted, involved as Sunday School Teacher and past President of the Presbyterian Women's Circle.

Left to cherish Mary Ann’s memory is her husband of 65 years, Alvin of Armstrong; children, Steven (Heather Heddens) of Washington, Iowa; Sue (George) Walker all of Armstrong; Chad (Summer) Olson of Gilbert, Arizona; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers Bob Anderson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and George Anderson of Columbus, Indiana.

Preceding Mary Ann in death are her parents; and step-father, Clarence King.

In lieu of flowers, family prefers memorials to First Presbyterian Church of Ringsted.
