Maurice Peter Peterson Obituary

Maurice Peter Peterson, the son of Peter and Minnie (Askeland) Peterson, was born November 12, 1935, in Armstrong, Iowa. He died Thursday, October 19, 2017, at Mayo Health System in Fairmont, Minnesota, at the age of 81.

He attended Armstrong and Ringsted schools. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict from 1960-1964. After he was honorably discharged he returned home.

He was united in marriage to Marlene Sauck. She died in 1984. On October 18, 1986, Maurice was united in marriage to Mary Wiebe. The couple made their home in Armstrong until 1999, when they moved to Fairmont. They were married for 31 years. Throughout his life he worked various jobs including Arts Way Manufacturing where he retired after 41 years of hard work. In his leisure time he enjoyed golfing, trips to Branson, Missouri, bowling, sitting outdoors and most importantly spending time with his family.

He was a lifelong member of Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong which was founded by his family alongside two other families. He also was a member of the Fairmont American Legion.

Left to cherish Maurice's memory are his wife, Mary; sons, William (Lina); Jeffrey (Pam); daughter, Robin (Brian) all of Fairmont; four grandsons; four granddaughters; two great-granddaughters; brother, Kenneth (Lois) as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.

Maurice was preceded in death by his first wife; one great-grandson, Joshua; his parents and sisters, Ruth-Marie, Clarice, Martha (twin sister) and brother, Harlan.
