Milton V. Delperdang, 96, of Marcus, Iowa passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2019 at the Heartland Care Center in Marcus. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus, Iowa. Burial will follow at Holy Name Cemetery in Marcus with military honors conducted by F.I. Goodburn American Legion Post #517. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 4, 2019 at Holy Name Catholic Church. The family will be present from 5 – 7 p.m. with a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 5:30 p.m. and a Scriptural Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to Mass on Saturday. Milton Vincent Delperdang was born on the family farm near Remsen, Iowa on July 12, 1923, the son of George and Clara (Majeres) Delperdang. He attended country school near his home and later graduated from Remsen St. Mary’s High School. Following school he farmed with his parents until enlisting in the United States Navy on July 27, 1944. He served during WWII in the Pacific Theater. Milt earned an Honorable Discharge on June 7, 1946. Following the war, he returned to the farm near Remsen. On November 12, 1947, Milt and Kathleen Braun were united in marriage on November 12, 1947 in Alton, Iowa. They farmed with his parents for a brief time before moving to a farm 5 ½ miles northwest of Marcus, Iowa. Together he and Kathleen farmed and raised their family until they retired in 1988 and moved into Marcus. Milt was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus and the Knights of Columbus. He served on the boards of Happy Siesta Care Center in Remsen and the Farmers’ Elevator in Marcus. Milt served as the project manager at Happy Siesta Care Center when they built the Atrium memory care unit. He and Kathleen were instrumental in starting Couples’ League at the Marcus Golf Course. He also liked league bowling and fishing. He will be lovingly remembered by his children and their spouses, Suzanne (Paul) Land of Spirit Lake, IA, Stephen (Roberta “Burt”) Delperdang of Crescent, IA and Douglas (Nikie) Delperdang of Claremore, OK; six grandchildren, Cassandra (Jeff Fulmer) Willis, Theodore (Julie) Willis, Joseph (Linnea) Willis, Jessica (Eugene) Reinert, Erica (Grant) Wynia and Stefanie Delperdang; great-grandchildren, Willis Fulmer, Ben Willis, Grace Willis, Kathleen “Kit” Willis, Joseph Reinert, Jaden Reinert, Austin Wynia, Colter Wynia and D.J. Underwood; a brother, Tony (Audrey) Delperdang of Remsen, IA; and several nieces and nephews. Milt was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Kathleen on March 22, 1999; a great-grandson, Brennan Fulmer; sister, Mercedes (Bernard) Haverkamp; and brothers, Gerald (Edith), Marvin (Rita), and Dale (Audrey Mae).
