Janet Kay Hamill, 56 of Atchison KS, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at her home. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Friday, February 22, 2019 at Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison, KS. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Family will receive friends prior to the service from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to help defray funeral costs and may be sent in care of the funeral home. She was a secretary for the Atchison Juvenile Correctional Facility and then Lansing Prison. Janet was of the Catholic faith and enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandbabies. She also enjoyed arts and crafts, scrapbooking and traveling. Janet is survived by her significant other David Handke, Atchison, KS, two daughters, Carolina (Alonso) Mora, Leavenworth, KS, Jessica Warner, Atchison, KS, a brother John (Pam) Ferris, Eudora, KS, two sisters, Dana (Walt) Hare, Atchison, KS, Karen (Chuck) Gerhardt, Roger, AK, six grandbabes, Kaden, Nathaniel, Savannah, Isabella, Emma, Lucas. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a son Stephen Paul Hamill.
