Doris Sperry

Garden City- Doris P. Sperry, 84, died on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at her home in Garden City. She was born on July 18, 1934 in Garden City the daughter of Asa O. & Mabel M. (Kells) Carroll. She married Richard L. Sperry on December 22, 1951 in Garden City. He died on September 7, 1997. Doris graduated from Garden City High School. In her earlier years she worked as an usher at the State Theater before becoming a bookkeeper for Garnand Furniture Store, Hugoton Production Company and for 15 years Cramer’s Harvestore. She then was bookkeeper for the family masonry business. Doris was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary and enjoyed playing the piano, dancing, bowling, crocheting and most of all her family activities. She was preceded in death by her Husband, 2 Brothers- Charles Carroll & Kenneth Carroll & 4 Sisters- Velma Ward, Vera Van Winkle, Reva Robinson & Mary Ball She is survived by her longtime Companion- Alie Loewen of the Home, Daughter- Susan L. Van Dolah & Doug DuBose of Garden City, 2 Sons- Richard A. & Kerri Sperry of Garden City and Tim L. & Roxie Sperry of Garden City, Sister- Kathryn Yardley of Garden City, 7 Grandchildren- Anthony Joe Nichols, Jeffry Nichols, Heath VanDolah, Matthew Bruce Sperry, Levi Mikel Sperry, Kristen Lynn Sperry & Brent Michael Sperry and 12 Great-Grandchildren. Funeral Service will be at 10:30 AM Saturday at the First Christian Church with Rev Scott Schurle officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.
