Floyd Long
Floyd “Randy” long, 55, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2019, at home in Garden City after a courageous battle with cancer. Randy was born August 27, 1963, in Dexter, Missouri. He was the son of Harmon and Freda (Cox) Long. Garden City was Randy’s home because as he said my kids and grandkids are here. He did spend some of his younger years in Bernie, Missouri and Copeland, Kansas. He married Karan Frey on January 4, 1992, at Pleasant Prairie Church of God in Satanta. He farmed for many years at McLain Farms in Satanta before becoming a truck driver, most recently for Brimm Trucking hauling rock and sand. Randy was a man of few words but was always willing to be the first to show up to help and the last to throw in the towel and leave. He enjoyed hot rod cars, fishing and of course a good fishing story. He loved a good barbeque but most of all, he loved time spent with his family. He would want everyone to know that after all these years, all this life lived, the one thing he could say that would always be true was that he loved his kids and his grandkids! He is survived by his wife, Karan Long of the home; children, Tonya Claussen of Garden City, Jeremy Long and wife Amy of Deerfield, Randal Long of Garden City; mother, Freda Long of Garden City and brother, Scott Long of Wichita. His six grandchildren: Dominic Weatherred, Bladyn Long and Corbyn Long of Deerfield and Coltyn Claussen, Addisyn Claussen and Madilyn Claussen of Garden City. He was preceded in death by his father, Harmon Long, and brother, Bruce Long. Memorial services will be Friday, July 19 and 2:00 pm at Garnand Funeral Home Chapel in Garden City. Family will be present to receive friends at 1:00 pm. A private family burial will take place at a later date. Emily Graham and Pastor Norman Heironimus will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Zion, Illinois or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, both in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
