Joseph Boyle Obituary

Joseph E. Boyle, 56, died Sunday, October 21, 2018 at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. He was born June 3, 1962 in Fargo, North Dakota the son of John & Bonnie (Young) Boyle. Joseph lived with his family in various places throughout North Dakota, South Dakota, and Iowa. He served in the United States Army from 1980 to 1984. He then continued to serve in the Army National Guard for more than 16 years. While serving in the Army National Guard, Joseph’s unit was deployed during Desert Storm. Joseph moved to Garden City in the mid 1980’s where he has lived since. He worked as a school bus driver for USD #457 for 16 years. Joseph also worked for several years in oxygen and welding supplies for Kansas Oxygen and Lampton Welding Supply. He was a member of Bible Christian Church, Vets for Veterans, VFW, and the American Legion. Joseph was also very active in Boy Scouts and the Spanish Peaks Scout Ranch where he served as the shooting sports director. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, the outdoors, camping, and visiting with people. On August 9, 1986, he married Susan Cheever in Armstrong, Iowa. She survives. Other survivors include a son Dustin & wife Liz Boyle of Woodville, Wisconsin; his parents John & Bonnie Boyle of Lindsborg, Kansas; 2 brothers Jay & wife Marta Boyle of Irvington, New Jersey and Jack Boyle of Dallas, Texas; his Mother-In-Law Alyce Cheever of Armstrong, Iowa; and 3 Grandchildren Clara Boyle, Walker Boyle, & Kelty Boyle. Joseph is preceded in death by his Father-In-Law Clarence Cheever. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Bible Christian Church in Garden City with Rev. Chad Ulrich officiating and military rites conducted by the Kansas Army National Guard Honor Guard. A private family interment will take place at a later date. Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. Memorials are suggested to Spanish Peaks Scout Ranch, Bible Christian Church, or to Vets for Veterans all in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
