Charles “Chuck” Boeger Hathaway, 75, Spring Hill, Kansas passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at KU Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 20, 2020 at Bruce Funeral Home, 712 S. Webster, Spring Hill, Kansas 66083 (913-592-2244). Funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Bruce Funeral Home. Private family inurnment with Military Honors at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to Cole-Smith American Legion Post 350, Spring Hill, Kansas or Leukemia Research Foundation. Condolences may be left at www.brucefuneralhome.com Chuck was born in Topeka, Kansas to Corliss and Mary Ida (Boeger) Hathaway on June 23, 1944. He grew up in Topeka and graduated from Topeka High School. Chuck married Rita Scritchfield on May 23, 1970 in Topeka, Kansas. He worked as professional truck driver. He was a United States Army Airborne veteran, earning two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. Chuck was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division, 101st Screaming Eagles and 173rd Airborne Division. He was a member of Cole-Smith American Legion Post 350, Spring Hill, Kansas. Chuck and his family moved to Spring Hill in 1988. Chuck enjoyed going to Lake of the Ozarks with family, boating, snow skiing, playing the slots at the casino and Morgan horses. He had a passion for quarter pounders from McDonald’s, mowing his yard and especially family vacations. He was a member of the Northland Christian Church, Topeka, Kansas. Chuck fought a courageous fight with leukemia. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Ann Barnett and Jeanette Hathaway. He is survived by his wife Rita of the home, children: Eddie Hathaway, Michelle (Don) Norris, Michael Hathaway and Charles (Christine) Hathaway, Jr.; grandchildren: Christy Voegele( Paul), Nicole Criqui (Brent), Charles R. Hathaway, Keaton Hathaway and great-grandchild Brody Criqui.
