Betty Loraine (Courter) Marsh, 96, Lawrence, Kansas passed away Thursday, January 30, 2020 at Medicalodges of Eudora, Eudora, Kansas. Webster, Spring Hill, Kansas 66083 (913-592-2244) Betty was born December 2, 1923 in Paola, Kansas to Frederick St. Augustine and Fannie Loraine (Bowman) Courter. She was an only child who enjoyed good times with aunts, uncles and cousins. She grew up in Paola and graduated from Paola High School in 1941. Betty loved her small town and had many fond memories. After high school, she attended Kansas State University. Betty met her soul mate when she was only 14 years old, Lester Marsh, a young man who lived nearby. She married Lester in Paola, Kansas on October 24, 1943. They celebrated 69 years of marriage before Lester passed away in 2012. Betty was a dedicated and thoughtful grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a steadfast, positive influence in their eyes being forever strong, loyal, independent and courageous. Betty was a lifelong Methodist. She enjoyed reading historical fiction, sewing and cooking. She had a passion for bird watching. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lester and daughter-in-law Christy Marsh. She is survived by daughters Loraine Treneff (Craig), Renee Marsh (Jim Morel) and son Dennis Marsh; grandchildren: Emily Marsh (Gary Hall), Katharine Karam (Shannon), Alex Marsh (Ann), Elizabeth Morel (Don Cole) and Catherine Morel and great-grandchildren William Cole and Francesca Karam.
