Darold Walter Jennings passed away Friday, July 12, 2013, at the Rooks County Health Center in Plainville, KS at the age of 81. Darold was born on May 15, 1932 in Braman, OK to C.R. “Buck” and Pauline (Bridges) Jennings.
Darold graduated from Codell Rural High School in 1951. He served in the United States Army in the Korean War from 1952-1954.
Darold married Dian Languein on November 26, 1954 at the Codell Baptist Church. To this union two children were born, one daughter and one son.
Darold loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. He loved to drive whether for work or fun. The faster and louder the vehicle the better! He always drove fast until his later years. Darold enjoyed playing sports in high school. He raced go-karts when he was younger and enjoyed boating and waterskiing. He also spent several years playing softball and bowling.
Darold began working in the oil field as a teenager. He spent many years in the oil well servicing business
and was owner of Darold’s Well Service and later Buck’s Well Service. He drove a school bus and charter bus for many years. In his later years he enjoyed working for his neighbors driving a tractor. Darold was a lifetime member of the Reeder-Dinkel-Westhusin Post #8871.
Darold is survived by his wife Dian of the home; daughter Debra Eaves of Wichita; son Doug Jennings and wife Brenda of Plainville; sister Fontella Dooley and husband Joseph of Salina; sister Mazie White of Riverton, UT; two grandchildren, Bobie Jennings and Gretchen Jennings both of Hays; and one great-grandchild Kadalen Dian Unrein of Hays; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Darold is preceded in death by his parents C.R. “Buck” and Pauline Jennings.
Darold’s high octane love of life, family and friends and story-telling will be remembered for generations to come.
