David Coleman Fant passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014 at his home in Plainville Kanas at the age of 78. He was born February 12, 1936 in Coleman, Texas to Homer and Velma (Cohea) Fant.
He spent most of his childhood in Coleman County. He was baptized in a river around 1950 near Gould Busk, Texas.
As a young man he ventured out to Snider, Texas where he began a lifelong career in the oil field, traveling to several states in the U.S. and to countries around the world for major oil field companies.
He enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, woodworking and a little poetry on the side. David had a wonderful sense of humor and wit with a “joke” for every situation in life.
Around 1964 he married Martha Werner in which he joined with her in raising 2 sons, Marvin and Steve. Later he married Joyce Jenkins, both of them preceded him in death. David will join in heaven Thonda’s Husband Rick Patrick who also just passed recently.
In 1996 he moved to Kansas to finish his oil field career at the Stamper farm location. He met and married Fontella Carmen on July 4, 1997.
Survivors include wife Fontella of Plainville; sons, Marvin “Bobby” and wife Anita of Midland, Texas and Steve and wife Tammie of Odessa, Texas; five grandchildren; Fontella’s children, Thonda “TJ” Patrick and Ty and Heather Jennings and grandchildren.
David often referred to himself as a “simple man” and that would be true. A man of deep faith, abiding hope, and unfailing love, he was simply wonderful. He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
