Funeral services for Donald Lew Richardson, age 77, of Stockton will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 21, 2011 at the Smith-Moore-Overlease Funeral Home in Stockton. Mr. Richardson passed away Thursday, February 17, 2011 at the Rooks County Health Center in Plainville.
He was born September 5, 1933 in Webster, Kansas the son of Albert W. and Frona C. (Anderson) Richardson. He graduated from Webster High School and attended Ft. Hays State College. Mr. Richardson worked for the State of Kansas Department of Transportation and then for the Division of Surveying. He served his country in the United States Army and then was in the Kansas Army National Guard retiring as a Staff Sergeant after 20+ years.
He was an associate member of the Monroe-Taylor-Barnes V.F.W. Post #8873, the Stockton American Legion, Solomon Valley Antique and Machinery Association, and enjoyed hunting, and coin collecting.
On July 14, 1962 he married Joyce D. Hays in Osborne, Kansas. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his brother Earl and wife Colleen Richardson of Webster, Kansas; sister Anna M. and husband Ben Neuschafer of Enterprise, Kansas; several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.
Burial will be in the Stockton Cemetery with military honors provided by the Monroe-Taylor-Barnes VFW Post #8873. Visitation will be from 5-8 Saturday, 9-8 Sunday, and from 9-noon Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or the Stockton Medical Clinic and may be sent in care of the Smith-Moore-Overlease Funeral Home, 723 N.
