Sherry Rosalene Vest, 75, companion of thirteen years to Joe Charles, passed away Tuesday, March 13th, 2018. She was born September 28th, 1942 in Booker, Texas, daughter of the late Ernest “Jack” and Lois Lorene (Bishop) Stapp. After retiring from the state and the Lexington police Department, she and Joe enjoyed working puzzles, fishing, singing, taking trips to Gatlinburg, watching UK basketball and playing bingo. In her younger days, her passion was crochet, cross-stitch and quilting. She is survived by her son, Phillip Kevin (Stephanie) Vest; two daughters, Destin Nicole (Andy) Gray and Dawn Denise Atwood; thirteen grandchildren, Destin Cook, Megan Johnson, Patrick Brown, Phillip Douglas Atwood, Kelli Gray, Jadelyn Vest, Joshua Vest, Jacob Atwood, Austin Vest, Katelyn Vest, Madison Gray, Lucy Vest and Levi Vest; six great-grandchildren, Kaelin Johnson, Brady Cook, Davis Cook, Reed Cook, Sadie Paige Vest and Emaline Rose Atwood; one brother, Jerry (Rose) Stapp; a special friend, Gay Tincher. In addition to her parents, Sherry was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Donald Holt and one sister, Frances Cornell. Visitation will be Saturday, March 17th, at Johnson’s Funeral Home from 11am until time of service at 1pm with Reverend Scott Winkler officiating. Burial will be private.
