DUANE, Daniel Joseph, Jr., 88, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away peacefully May 5, 2017. He attended St. Joseph Preparatory School in Bardstown and graduated from the University of Louisville. He was a very proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was a territory manager for Van Munching Co. and then Heineken, USA. He will be remembered for his love for his family, animals, and the United States Marine Corps. Semper Fi. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, the former Lucy Wickstead; three children, Ellen M. Duane, Daniel J. Duane, III, and Kathryn D. Niemann; five grandchildren, Lauren (Jacob), Daniel (Morgan), Matthew, Joe, and Lucy; one great-grandson, Isaac; many nieces and nephews; and his faithful dog, Rocket. His funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 1960 Bardstown Rd. with burial to follow in St. Louis Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the KY Humane Society.
