Nancy Mouser Obituary

Nancy Raines Mouser, 93, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2019 at Episcopal Church Home. She was born in Gravel Switch, KY on June 24, 1926, the only child of the late John Taylor Rawlings and Malvena (Mullins) Rawlings. Nancy was a graduate of Western Kentucky University and dedicated herself to teaching 3rd and 4th grade for more than 30 years within the Jefferson County Public School system. Her time spent at Cane Run, Luhr and Greathouse elementary schools remained a fond memory in her final days. During retirement Nancy and her husband Charles fulfilled their dream of traveling extensively throughout each and every state in the U.S. She was a Kentucky Colonel, an avid reader and enjoyed attending to her roses. She took great pleasure in spending time with her family and friends from her teaching days and various church groups. Nancy was a devoted Christian who attended Highview Baptist Church for many years. She later became a member of Westport Road Baptist Church after moving to be closer to her son and family. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Charles Mouser; her parents; and two grandchildren, C. Taylor Mouser Jr. (2007) and Shane Yerby (2008). Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Charles T. Mouser (Jan) and Clayton Mouser (Sandy), four grandchildren, Lauren Medley (Justin), Kelsey Mouser, Shanna Olson (Scott), Justin Yerby and two great grandchildren. Nancy was an exceptionally kind person who cherished her time with her children and grandchildren who lovingly knew her as Nanoo. The family wishes to acknowledge Episcopal Church Home for their love, care and affection during Nancy’s long and difficult battle with dementia and/ or Alzheimer’s disease. Also deserving recognition is Hosparus of Louisville for their devotion and support in comforting those suffering as well as their families who are left searching for answers. The family will receive visitors from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, July 19th, 2019 at Ratterman Funeral Home, 3711 Lexington Road, in St. Matthews. She will be buried alongside her husband Charles at Hillcrest Cemetery, in Perryville, KY, on Saturday, July 20th at 2:00 PM. Graveside service at Hillcrest Cemetery under the direction of Walden Funeral Home Perryville. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Kentucky and Southern Indiana, 6100 Dutchmans Lane, suite 401, Louisville, KY 40205.
