Mary H. Dudney Patty, 86, died peacefully in her home in Pineville on Sunday, May 5, 2013. She was born Mary Helen Day on August 7, 1926 in Bunkie, Avoyelles Parish, to William Frederick and Lula Matilda (Mae) Reynolds Day. In 1945, she traveled to California to marry George Thomas Loyd Dudney, the father of her five children. After the untimely death of her husband in 1965, Mary took over her husband's business and continued to rear his children well. After she sold that business, she was Bridal Consultant for Gottschalks, a real estate agent and convenience store owner (The Victorian Store) all in Visalia, California. She remarried to Thomas A. Patty (deceased) in 1991, with whom she returned to her beloved Louisiana in January of 2000. Mary was always active in her church, including St. Mary's Parish in Visalia and the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pineville, and was also active in all communities in which she lived. She had a brother Kenneth Maurice Day by Lula Day, two brothers and a sister by Odie Clark: William Edward Day (wife Victoria Sierra Day) of Spain, Huey Frederick Day (wife Mary Day) of Scotland and Sybil Ann Day (deceased) of Louisiana. By Martha Elliott, she had two brothers, Carl Gary Day (deceased) and Elliot Lafate Day (wife Farah), and three sisters, Reba Jeanette Day (Husband Dave Moser), Doris Adelle Day (husband Jerry Mendoza) and Davida (Bebe) Young Day (husband Paul Rabalais), all of Louisiana. She was additionally predeceased by her parents, two brothers: Kenneth Day and Carl Day, a daughter-in-law, Mary Neff Dudney, a son-in-law, Ralph Liberato, her grandson, David Kenneth Dudney Liberato, three brothers-in-law: William H. Dudney, Joel Maggart and Bertrum Miller, two sisters-in-law: Evelyn Dudney Miller Shahan and Bonnie West Dudney, and two nephews: David Day and Micah Day. In addition to the rest of her siblings, Mary Helen is survived by two sisters-in-law: Catherine Dudney Maggart of Carthage, Tennessee, and Dottie Patty Hartshorn of Hemet, California, five children: Kay Dudney Billo and Jeanne Dudney Liberato, both of Visalia, Thomas L. Dudney of Folsom, California, W. David Dudney of Visalia and Susan Dudney Roush (husband Robert) Douglas of Spanish Fork, Utah, 20 grandchildren: Andrea Billo (husband Luis) Venegas of Visalia, Lauren Billo, Michael (wife Michelle Marquez) Liberato of Visalia, Tacy Liberato of Fullerton, California, Tara Liberato and Matthew Liberato of Paso Robles, California, Tegan Liberato (husband Jeff) Rowley of Visalia, Tina Liberato of Johnston, Rhode Island, Tami Liberato of Anaheim, California, Samantha Dudney and Thomas D. Dudney of Concord, California (children of Thomas L. Dudney and Carol Carpoff Dudney Lange), Melanie Dawn (Dudney) Fowler of Sacramento, California, David T. Dudney of Visalia (Son of W. David Dudney and Tammy Gomes), David J. Dudney of Visalia (Son of W. David Dudney and Debbie Brackett), Donnie Gomes of Visalia, Kaycie Lower of Visalia (daughter of Mary Neff Dudney) Stephanie Roush (husband Craig) MacDonald of Visalia, Jennifer Roush (husband Chris) Hillan of Visalia, Robbie Douglas of Spanish Fork, Utah and Aaron Caviglia of Visalia, 23 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren, cousins Louis Otis Voorhies, Jarrell Clark both of Pineville, and Nancy Beatrice Voorhies Cuckler of South Dakota, Rose Reynolds Girlinghouse of Pineville, Wyndolyn Reynolds (husband Michael) Doyle of Pineville, Gary and Judy Mason Reynolds of Arkansas, Bobby and Sheila Marcum Bardwell of Pineville, and many nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and loved ones in several states. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, May 10, 2013 and one hour before services on Saturday, the 11th. Services will be held at Magnolia Funeral Home, 1604 Magnolia St., Alexandria, Louisiana at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2013 and burial will be directly following in Hayes Family Cemetery in Effie, Avoyelles Parish, Louisiana. A mass for Mary will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, May 10th in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pineville.
