Memorial service for Mrs. Nila Bloomer Chevrier of West Monroe, LA will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Cedar Crest Baptist Church in West Monroe, LA with Dr. Greg Clark officiating. Nila was born in Monroe, LA to James Lum and Vera Bloomer on August 16, 1942. She went to high school at Ouachita Parish High School and graduated in 1961. She went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Education and Journalism from Northeast Louisiana State College (now ULM) and taught English, Journalism and French in various school systems in Louisiana, New Jersey, Arkansas and Algeria, Africa. She loved her students and they loved her. She enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing, and spending time with her family. Nila passed from this life on May 19, 2019 at the age of 76. She is preceded in death by her parents, James Lum Bloomer, Jr. and Vera Werfelman Bloomer, and her nephew, Christopher James Barbara. Those left to cherish her memories include her beloved husband, Aurele Jacques Chevrier, Jr.; daughter, Manon Chevrier Grebinger; grandchildren, Sebastien-Aurele Chevrier, Charlize Belle Grebinger and Aniken Vaughn Grebinger, all of West Monroe; sisters, Rita Bloomer Browning of Jacksonville, FL, Lynn Bloomer Barbara (Stephen) of West Monroe; nephew, Todd Gray Browning (Jin) of Venice, FL, niece, Stephanie Barbara Hilton (Todd) of West Monroe and great nieces and nephews, Audrey Claire Hilton, Briley Barbara and Noah Hilton. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staffs of Glenwood Hospital ICU, Cornerstone Rehabilitation Hospital, Landmark Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center and Kindred at Home for their kind and loving care.
