John Allen Clark, Jr. Obituary

Holden – John Allen Clark Jr, 73, passed away Thursday November 14, 2019, in Bangor. He was born December 7, 1945, to John Sr. and Thursea (Gove) Clark, of Machias. John is survived by his mother, Thursea; brother, Roger; sister, Sharon; wife, Bonita; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and wife, Tiphanie, and Jeffrey and wife, Erica; grandchildren, Dustin, Toni, Michaela and Spencer; great-grandchildren, Samuel, Kyln and Weslynn; and an extensive family of nieces, nephews and cousins. John was predeceased by his father, John Sr. John married Bonita Sweet, of Holden, in 1969. John was not afraid of hard work, helping others, giving to his community and never asking for anything in return. Before retiring from New England Telephone and Telegraph, and the Maine Army National Guard, on his off time you would find John serving as a Lieutenant with the Holden Volunteer Fire Department, or as a Deputy with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department. After retirement John couldn’t be tied down, he drove truck for Bluebird Ranch, school bus for S.A.D. 63, and finally settled into the seat of his trusty John Deere tractor doing work for anyone and everyone that asked, as well as being active in his congregation at the East Eddington Community Church and Crossroads Christian Camp. As a veteran John was active in veteran activities and groups, and was always the first to stand up for veterans’ rights. The thing he took the most pride in, aside from his family, was being a part of the Holden Veterans’ Memorial, and the Wreaths Across America, “Remember – Honor – Teach,” program, and placing Christmas wreaths on Veterans’ graves in Holden. Aside from all of this, John was most fond of and had nothing but the utmost love, respect, and admiration for his wife, Bonnie. Their conversations usually ended with him saying with a deep sigh, “Yes Deah,” in nothing but a heartfelt and loving manner. His sons, grandsons, granddaughter, great-grandsons, and great-granddaughter were especially the light of his days. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 5 -7 p.m. Friday, November 29, 2019, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, November 30, 2019. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversations and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., following the service.
