Marjorie Tinker Obituary

Bangor - Marjorie (Roberts) Tinker, 93, died peacefully on November 25, 2019. Marjorie was born in Lowell, MA on November 20, 1926, the daughter of Ora C. and Lillian A. Roberts.

When she was 7 months old the family returned to the family farm in Bradford. Marjorie graduated from Bangor High School in 1945 where she met and later married her classmate, George W. Tinker in 1946. In June of 2012 they celebrated 66 years of marriage.

Marge worked as a private secretary for many years at the Penobscot Court House, and later after raising her family returned to work at Penobscot Savings Bank. She was a member of National Grange, Eastern Star, and was a board member of the King's Daughters and Phillip-Strickland House.

She is survived by her brother, Fred Roberts and his wife Beverly “Bonnie” of Bradford; her daughter, Kathy Stead of West Bath; her son, Stuart Tinker and his wife, Penney of Bangor; three grandsons, Todd and Christopher Stead, both of West Bath, and James Tinker of Bangor. She has four great grandchildren, Sawyer, Olive, Seger, and Crosby Stead, all of West Bath. Many, many nieces and nephews that she dearly loved. She is also survived by the greatest neighbors anyone could ask for, Jody and Matt Bourassa and their sons, Blake, Jack and Trey.

She was predeceased by her parents, her sister, Barbara Nichols, and her husband, George.

Marge lived on Thomas Hill Road for over 60 years where she was known as “Tinkerbell” to everyone in the neighborhood. She moved to Boyd Place where she was surrounded and loved by her second family for the past few years.

The family would like to thank all her friends at Boyd Place for making the last years so happy for her. We would also like to thank the staff at Northern Light EMMC on both the ER and on the third floor for their kindness to Marge and the family.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com
