Brewer – Maynard “Jay” F. Nash II, 42, died peacefully, April 24th, 2017, at his home which he shared with his companion, Tahnya Burns. She was his rock throughout his illness and her caring for him is well appreciated by his family. Jay was born on November 22nd, 1974, in Bangor, the son of Maynard F. Nash and Gloria Jean Shea.


Jay graduated from Ellsworth High School, class of 1993. He loved to cook, and worked in various restaurants … doing what he loved. Most recently he worked as a taxi driver for Dick’s Taxi in Bangor, a company that was very generous to him. He loved sports of all sorts and was a fan of the Boston Celtics and Red Sox, when they were winning or losing. He loved TV, movies and the latest technology, and was an avid Star Wars fan who will be remembered as a good Dad.


Jay was predeceased by his paternal and maternal grandparents. He is survived by his parents, mother Gloria Read and step-father David of Alton, ME and father Maynard Nash and step-mother Cheryl of Jessup, MD. He is also survived by his children, Jerico Hartley of Congress, AZ, Alexandra Nash and Tyler Nash, both of Brewer, ME; his favorite sister Stephanie Spencer, husband Herbert, and their family of Alton, ME; brother Christopher Nash and his family of Jessup, MD; sister Meredith Nelson and family of Smyrna, DE; sister Nicole Franse, of Knoxville, TN.
