Orland/Bucksport Brian C. Leeman, 53, died unexpectedly at his home on Friday, February 7, 2014. He was born in Bangor, the son of Robert W. Leeman, and Joyce A. (LeClair) Leeman Violette on July 6, 1960. Brian graduated from Bucksport High School and attended college at the University of Maine at Orono. Prior to beginning work at Verso Paper, he was employed by New England Telephone Company. Brian loved all things theater; was involved with Bucksport Community Theatre, and directed their production of Oklahoma. He also served as Vice President of BACAS (Bucksport Area Cultural Arts Society), and was also very much involved with the development of the new Bucksport Performing Arts Center. He served as a member of the Bucksport Town Council. Brian also had a special talent and love of computers and electronics, being a certified repair technician on many levels, and having previously been a partner in his own Electronics sales and service business, Silver Street Audio, here in Bucksport. Brian also had a great love and knowledge of both music and history. While employed at Verso Paper Mill, he was involved in both the Safety program, and in developing of graphics and software programs in the Training Program. Brian was a member of Union 261, where he served as President, Treasurer and Shop Steward. He loved to spend some of his down time at Roach Pond with his brother Jeff, and his dad Bob. They all enjoyed spending time together at the local camp store and restaurant at Kokadjo, visiting with staff and neighbors. Brian also loved spending time ocean boating, especially sailing. He genuinely enjoyed the time spent with his stepfather, Henry, at Violette’s Garage on Route 46 in Dedham. Brian loved his pets, past and present, and his present Golden Retriever Bella, was his constant companion. Brian is survived by, and will be deeply missed by his devoted wife, Susan “Suzi” Fleming Leeman of Orland, his mother and stepfather, Joyce and Henry Violette also of Orland, one daughter Christine Marie Allen, of Amsterdam, NY; Sisters Jessica DeRaps and husband Danny and their children, Codey, Connor and Cooper, all of Ellsworth; Susan England and her husband Joe, and their son Zachary, of Brewer; and Doris and husband David Gray of Florida; Brothers Rob Leeman or Orland and David Violette of Oklahoma as well as Uncle John LeClair and wife Ann of Clearwater, Florida; niece Kathleen Koppes, husband Nate and daughter Bella Olivia Koppes; nephew David Leeman, wife Christy and children Alexis, Jade and Mason, all of Bucksport; two special cousins, Kevin LeClair and family of Otter Creek, and Dr. Lynn (Rosebush) Dutton of Washington. Brian is also survived by his stepmother, Bonnie Leeman of Orland, and family. Brian was predeceased by his maternal grandparents Pereley (Grampie P.C.) and Kathleen LeClair; his paternal grandparents Basil and Florence Leeman. His father, Robert W. Leeman; one brother, Jeffrey M. Leeman, his Uncle Jimmy Leeman, Uncle Robert LeClair, Uncle Jamie LeClair; an aunt, Kathleen “Kitty” Rosebush, and a nephew J.D. LeClair. Brian was a gentle soul and was loved by everyone who met him. He was also a devoted Husband, Father, Son, Brother and Uncle. Brian leaves behind numerous friends, but among his special friends were; Cary Comtois, Jerry Leach, Danny Wentworth, Bob Harriman and Terry Bowden to name just a few. At Brian’s request, there will be no funeral services. However, a celebration of life, to gather and reminisce over good memories will be held at The Verona Island Town Hall 16 School Street Verona Island 04416 on Saturday February 15, 2014 from 1-6pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made at Bangor Savings Bank, Main Street, Bucksport in the name of Susan F. Leeman, to help defray expenses.
